Coordonateur de projet (Urban Renewal Centre Coordinator PRF 8782) Si intéressé mentionner Nr. PRF
Contribution to Strategy:
This is a Dhaka-based programme approved by the Bangladesh government. The aim of the programme is to develop local poor communities in parts of west Dhaka where SIM has a long-standing presence. Alongside the community development, we desire to see people won for Christ and discipled into local churches.
Ministry: DI- Inner City Ministries
Responsibilities: Help set up SIM Bangladesh's 'West Dhaka Urban Renewal Programme,' a government approved programme that has not yet formally commenced. The role would involve recruitment of suitable staff (up to eleven Bangladeshi staff and three foreign staff), donor relations to raise the necessary funding, development of programme activities (which may include adult literacy, physiotherapy, community health, slum school education, children's coaching, sanitation, and other related activities), reporting for both Bangladesh government and SIM International purposes, staff development and training, and strategy development. Alongside this, as mentioned above, engagement in Word ministry, depending on gifting and opportunity.
Ministry 2: CP- Church Planting
Other Ministry Possibilities: Alongside the formal programme position of coordinator, many opportunities are available for Word ministry, including children's ministry, evangelism, Bible teaching in local house churches, and discipleship of adults. The applicant would focus half time on the formal visa position and half time on Word ministry.
Future Plans: If an expatriate missionary is required to fill this position, what plans are there for a national to be trained and developed to take over this role in the future? A possiblity exists for training a Bangladeshi to eventually take over this role.

Personality Issues/ Cultural Considerations:: Bangladesh is a developing country with 90% M* population. Bangladesh is, in general, a conservative country when it comes to dress and mixed gender contact and relations. Locally appropriate clothing needs to be worn at all times.
Bangladesh is a country with varying seasons, but most of the time it is probably hotter and wetter than one's home country. Power supply is pretty unreliable in Dhaka, especially in the summer months. While Bangladesh is a rural country of great beauty, Dhaka city with its 15 million inhabitants is crowded, noisy, and often difficult to travel in. Most people who visit Dhaka go through a period of adjustment to the crowds, busyness, traffic, and pollution. All people who come to Bangladesh, regardless of how long they stay, will have the opportunity to demonstrate their patience, flexibility, and innovation. Again, as a team, we are here to provide support and encouragement in the process of getting used to living in this vibrant, exciting, and challenging megacity.
We strongly recommend a short visit of ten days or two weeks in order for the applicant to see the city before commiting to long term service.
